Browsers and Forum v.7:
The vendor tests Forum on the various browsers, please be sure you're using one of them.

Current list of browsers can be found at Equipment Recommendations.

New Features with Forum v.7
Clicking on one of these links will open a new browser window containing the related section of Forum's Help pages. Close the help window before clicking on another link to keep the Help window from becoming hidden under your main browser window. Alternatively, make your browser window smaller so you can see both windows at once.

Context Sensitive Help
Within Forum there are links to context sensitive help. Look for Help on the Tasks tab and in Bookmarks.

WYSIWYG HTML Editor
This is available with Internet Explorer 5.5 & 6.0 only (not Netscape or Opera). When adding discussion-forum entries you now have text-formatting tools similar to those found in a word processor: bold, italics, underline, indent, bullets, outline, type and background colors, fonts and font size, etc. NOTE: The editors cannot preserve any text you have entered if you change from one to the other (HTML to Standard of vice versa) in the middle of message creation. Be sure to copy any text before you change editors. In practice, one is not likely to change editors mid-post but we wanted to alert you of the potential for losing text.

Tasks & Reminders
These are part of Forum's workflow processes. The Tasks feature provides an easy way to keep track of assigned activities as part of a project or collaboration. Tasks can be associated with the Tasks tab or a discussion. Set a start date, due date, priority, percent complete, state, assignees, and user-definable notification dates. Red, yellow and green "lights" indicate the current state of the task.

E-mail reminders can be set to jog your memory of pending activities. As with tasks, reminders can be associated with the Tasks tab or a discussion.

Bookmarks
Bookmarks enable you to keep track of discussion entries that interest you, so that you can return to them easily in the future.

Round-trip edit
The Edit feature allows you to edit documents in discussion forums without leaving the context of Forum. This Java applet automatically reserves the document, launches the associated program, allows you to upload the new version, and manages the versioning. Supported programs include: Microsoft Word, Access, ArtGallery, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Schedule, WordPerfect, Photoshop, plain text, rich text format, SGML, and comma-separated values.

Multi-file upload
The new upload Java applet allows you to upload many files and folders all at once. Attach the files and folders using familiar features such as drag and drop, copy and paste, and browse. Once within Forum, the files and folders retain their original structure.

Bulk load documents - use a new command with the Java multi-file upload applet to add a group of files to a forum and automatically create a separate document entry for each file. The file name becomes the title of the new forum entry.

Calendar enhancements
Add new repeating entry patterns to a Forum calendar, such as every other Monday, the third Thursday of each month, etc. E-mail a calendar invitation to other Forum users. Receive an e-mail notification every time someone adds or modifies a calendar entry.

Enhanced Outlook 2000 support
Send Microsoft Outlook 2000 calendar entries to a Forum calendar (as in V6, you can send Forum calendar entries to Outlook). In addition, save Forum business card information directly to a Microsoft Outlook 2000 contact list.

Search for users by category
Searching for users in List users in a workspace has been enhanced. You can specify the category in which you want Forum to search such as Full Name or Profile information.

User Profile Features - Access your User profile to make use of the next set. On a forum page click on your underlined name (upper left) and then click on Modify profile.

Internationalization of Date & Time
Users can now set their preferences for displaying date and time format. This setting is on the user profile form.

Personal file in User Profile
User profiles include the option to upload a personal file, such as a resume or curriculum vitae.

Accessibility mode
Forum and its Help system are now coded for increased accessibility by text readers. Users can switch into accessibility mode (or back to tabs mode) from the User Profile.
